Think bite splints are just for athletes?
Not at all! In fact, you just might need a bite splint; more than half of our patients do. People need bite splints, mouth guards, occlusal guards or night splints (they have a variety of names) for several reasons.
Do you ever wake up and your jaw is sore? Have headaches? Sensitive teeth or your bite feels off?
If you answered yes, you may need a bite splint because you could be clenching or grinding your teeth together while you sleep. Bite splints help protect your teeth from wearing down. But bite splints do so much more. They also help relax your jaw muscles. When your jaw muscles relax, you have less inflammation and less pain.
Do you think a bite splint might help you?
Bite splints are custom-made and can be hard or soft . The one you need depends on your bite and the reason you need one. Ask any dental health specialist at Life-Centered Dentistry about bite splints at your next appointment,
The impression can be taken the same day, and you will get your bite splint two weeks later. It is usually worn at night. It will take some getting used to.
A member of the Life-Centered Dentistry team will follow up with you to see how it is working for you and answer any questions you may have. Of course, you can call us sooner if you need to.
